Te Nebra

Many of the other peoples regard Tenebrans with a good deal of caution, and with good reason. No other nation has studied death so extensively. And from study, Tenebrans have become extremely adept at dealing it out. There is even a nursery rhyme called "Old Man Ten" written to parody their practices which is also played in taverns to lighten the mood.

Landscape

Te Nebra is riddled with hills, crags, mountains and coastal cliffs. It is an up and down country. The region is noted for its magnificent sunsets and long shadows. The city of Half-light is nestled near the coast, on the hills of a valley.

History

The area of Te Nebra received much of its infamy after the rise of Prince Mallieb of Teneb. After he ascended to Prince of the city of Half-light, he declared the place a haven for all weary spirits, still attached to mortal coils or not. The city received an immediate influx of friendly and unfriendly Eidols eager for a home. The city has adjusted to their presence, serving as the only city of Jaeis which accepts the creatures without exception.

The Tenebrans have never been very good at growing or making things. It seems as if the land around them plots to undermine their attempts at becoming proficient farmers and prodigious builders. Theirs was a land known for its haunting beauty, its strange customs and stranger people, but not much else.

The Tenebran Alchemist Dir-daz changed all that when he created the process of making Tenebran steel.

With the creation of Tenebran steel, the industry of the area boomed. Weapons, armor, building materials: anything made of metal in Te Nebra became a desired commodity. Tenebran steel is known as the best steel for resisting the elements, keeping an edge, and receiving enchantments. Naturally, Entropist Princes of Half-light sought to make more weapons than anything: weapons do little besides destroy. And, like all good business-minded folk, they restricted the supply as the demand grew. Tenebran steel weapons remain expensive, highly sought-after, and well worth their price.
