The Immortals are physical, supernatural beings separated into two distinct races: the Infernals and the Supernals. These races were created as messengers and attendants to the Halestian gods. The two races are eternal enemies.

Due to the amount of raw supernatural power with which they are infused, like the gods, the Immortals are not vulnerable to normally lethal conditions. They do not die of old age, do not fatigue from physical exertion, are immune to disease and poison, and are invulnerable to environmental extremes. They cannot be injured by conventional weaponry, but are vulnerable to magic, spirit power, and weaponry endowed with either of these forces.

Immortals can become invisible or pass through normal matter at will. They can read thoughts and communicate telepathically to anyone within eyesight. They can magically change their form to any sentient race or animal.

The two races are incapable of reproducing with each other as well as their own kind. They were not created to procreate so they lack the ability to do so inherently. Infrequently, however, an Immortal will assume mortal form and mate with a mortal. Most often in these infrequent times, an Immortal male will mate with a human female, but very rarely, an Immortal female will carry the child of a mortal male.

Immortals are not player character races, nor are they intended as a combat challenge for a party. The Immortals make great otherworldly points of contact, advisers, informants, or devices for back story. An Immortal could make a great campaign villain, but its downfall should be through indirect means (the use of some powerful artifact or forgotten magic), not through physical, combative, confrontation.

Infernals

The Infernals are those Immortals that serve Morrak and the forces of evil. They are infused with negative or "corrupt" mana and are therefore evil in a physical sense.

Anatomy

Infernals appear much as humanoids and adorned with a set of membranous bat-like wings. Many bear horns of varying sizes and shapes and some have a lizard-like tail.

Mating with Mortals

Most Infernals find mortals beneath them and do not entertain the notion of mating with one. Occasionally, though, it happens, either out of a very strange relationship or rape. When Infernals mate with humans, the offspring is referred to as a Lilim.

Supernals

The Supernals are those Immortals that serve Alnarya and the forces of good. They are infused with positive or "holy" mana and are therefore good in a physical sense.

Anatomy

Supernals appear as physically strong humanoids and adorned with a pair of majestic, feathery wings. Very often they have long, flowing hair.

Mating with Mortals

It is rare that a Supernal falls in love with a human, but it does occasionally happen. When Supernals mate with humans, the offspring is referred to as a Nephilim.
