Landscape

Triadus occupies one of the most politically dangerous territories on the face of Gaeis. Facing imperial conquest to the west from Donya, a tentative alliance with the forest of Qaeld to the north, the Borderlords in Egund to the east, the sea of Swords to the South and under the watchful eye of Cadwal, Triadus has nevertheless managed to survive without making too many enemies.

History

The earliest history of the human race is largely based on myth. The history of Triadus is certainly no exception. In fact, it boasts one of the most interesting and widely debated myths: that of The Children of Triadus.

As far as recorded history is concerned, the Triadans might have lived in their region indefinitely. The oldest and most notable of the Colleges of Magic, "The House of Mikal" is located in city of Arc and marks one of the oldest buildings still intact on Gaeis.

Government

The Triadan government is ruled by the Council of Archmagi, filled by powerful wizards who are elected for life, or until voted down by their peers. Each seat is filled by a master of each of the Schools of Magic and the vote to elect is conducted within each school of training. The council is overseen by a civillian "Doyen" who acts as the voice of the non-magic community in Triadus. The Doyen may overturn any law or appointment settled upon by the Council, but must always pass new business or proposals through the Council first.

The Doyen oversees the Shogo (meaning "Claw"), or chief general in charge of the military.

Military

The Triadan military is rightly feared. Though small, they are incredibly potent, blending extremely destructive spells with a highly trained fighting force and capable generals.

Under the Shogo, who commands the entirety of the nation's military might, are his Reggo (meaning "Fangs"). The Reggo are minor generals who personally lead armies into battle.

The Triadan military pays and trains its soldiers well. There is no conscription in Triadus; enlistment is purely voluntary.

Economy

The main export and commodity of Triadus is magic. Whether it be in the form of services performed by appointed mages, items such as potions, or the employment of mages as advisors, bodyguards, etc., mages are taxed by the government of Triadus to accrue funds.

In terms of alchemy, the only greater alchemists in the world are the Alchemists of Jeridon, and their knowledge is keen, but limited.
