Psyche is a term for the mental and spiritual well being of a character. A character with no psyche has gone (or maybe always has been) completely raving mad. Whenever a character experiences something horrific or traumatic, a Psyche test is called for. If failed, sometimes a character’s Psyche score is reduced or he/she is given some sort of dementia or mental illness.

Poor psyches include Bram Stoker’s Renfeld, Leonard Shelby, or overworked postal employees, while examples of good psyches include Gandalf the White, Tony Robbins, and counselors.
