Monster:Kite

Kites resemble huge, long-necked birds with a long, sharp beak, used for spearing prey. Their downy feathers cover their bodies, but their wings are leathery like a bat's, and their wingspan is quite wide. Sharp claws top their wings and feet which they use to hang and climb the trees and peaks where they are found. They also use their long legs to assist their beak in tearing and pulling apart the meat of their prey. They have flat teeth at the back of their beaks, as well as in their snakelike necks, which they can use to grind their food, but mostly they swallow small prey whole. Sea-dwelling Kites will often hold their prey underwater to drown it before swallowing it. The males of the species exhibit a spiky crest on the top and back of their heads and have plumage of bluish-greys, black and white, while the females are extremely colorful, sometimes possessing all the colors of the rainbow. For this reason, Kites are hunted by some cultures and have evolved to avoid human contact. Mated pairs of Kites are extremely territorial and violent towards outside threats. Kites are usually found in areas of tropical jungle or where water is plentiful.

Kites are sometimes domesticated for use as aerial mounts, but trainers who attempt this feat usually set up dynasties, since starting such a business endeavor is extremely difficult due to the Kites' behavior towards humans and similar life.
