Legends often portray vampyres as parasitic dopplegangers living amongst good, decent folk, seducing the chaste and drinking their blood. The vampyres of these stories are frightening because they blend in with normal folks so well. Anyone could be a vampyre. Likely, this started as an old wives tale or superstition about people regarded as strange or twisted by the general populace. "Don't pass by old Mrs. Fibban's house late at night, she's a vampyre and she will drink your blood!" Sometimes they are used to scare children into acting proper. "Eat your vegetables or the vampyre will come for you while you sleep!" And so, the legend of the vampyre lives on.

The legends are all wrong.

There are indeed vampyres out there, prowling the wilds of the world, circling the centers of human populace with a ceaseless hunger for blood and meat. They are huge, standing close to fourteen feet tall and have bone-like plates which cover it in places, including its face. The rest of its body is covered in a coarse black hide. Vampyres have a thick, reptilian-looking tail and a set of horns on the side of its head. They also have a long tongue which they use to lap up the blood of their victims. Vampyres feast on any kind of meat, but the blood of humanoid beings would be described by a vampyre as "less gamey."

Vampyres are intelligent hunters, but don't speak unless they have to. They learn what they know of languages from watching their victims and from the other abominations of the world which sometimes serve them. They are capable of using weapons, but do not often do so unless they are an overly intelligent member of their species, in which case vampyres can be terribly intelligent overlords in armor and wielding wicked blades and barbed whips.

Occasionally, a vampyre will team-up with one or several of Forsaken; the Forsaken leads humans quietly into the clutches of the vampyre, who rends them apart and eats them while the Forsaken gleefully watches.

While it is held that these vampyres are a sort of demon or spirit, the truth is that they are simply a form of intelligent life, somewhere close to animal. Their evolution is questionable, but it is probable their current status is the result of dark magic.

All Vampyres have the following powers:

Wings
Vampyres are capable of flight, but use this ability rarely, since they are extremely vulnerable and easy to spot in the sky.
Claws, Fangs and horns
Vampyres possess long, wicked claws, jagged teeth and a set of curved horns which they use to rend their food. These natural weapons use the vampyre's H2H skill and have a Hurt score of 6.
Tough as Nails
Vampyres have a face covered in hard bone, which also covers their forearms and hands. Vampyres have an armor score of 7 naturally.
