Whereas the god-animals of the world grew in size as well as intelligence, the Weren, who were at one time simply animals, developed an ability to morph into a human shape. The overwhelming majority of Weren are hateful of humanoid life, and seek to undermine the expansion and prosperity of such races. In their human shape, Weren have feature which slightly resemble the animal within: pig-nose, beak-like nose, long nails, large canines, pointed or tufted ears, buck-teeth, tails, excessive hair, strange eyes, etc.

Weren eat as a typical member of its animal kind would. They can maintain their transformed shape for as long as they like, but most Weren can only tolerate this shape for so long and eventually seek to change back into their animal form, much like a person craves a bath when they are dirty. Other animals are somehow aware of a Weren's true form, and respond to it differently. For instance, a Fox Weren would possess a preternatural bond with foxes, but hounds would be agressive towards them and rabbits and cats would be disquieted by them.

Weren exist as part of the natural world and view themselves as a race superior to humanoids. They think of the dominance of humanoid races over animal races as a great injustice, and explain their own existence as proof that the animal kingdom should reign supreme. While they are quite intelligent and capable of many forms of speech (including the speech of animals), they are not as responsive to critical thought regarding humanoid life: their animal instincts for survival take over at that point. A Weren who sought to be amicable to humanoids would be rare indeed. Weren typically seek to undermine humanoid struggles which would greatly affect natural or animal life, and have a deeply ingrained hatred of industrial and entropist groups.
