First Destruction of Spire

The Auslanders who live to the west of The Bleak Sea have not troubled the mainland of Jaeis for some time. However, many years ago they launched an invasion which was meant not for conquest, but for plunder.

They landed just north of the port city of Owaku and assemble their raiding parties there. Hitting first the out-lying towns and villages, they then sacked Owaku. From there they made their way north to Seagate, which also fell to their might, and then to Spire, desiring the secrets of the mages of the city. They besieged the city until the defenses finally fell, and burned or crumbled anything they could not carry off. Still, the Spire endured without a scratch and the citizens who survived that bloody battle later rebuilt the city.

The Auslanders, drunk with victory and greed, pushed their luck too far and assembled a navy which would assault the city of Rune. The navy was sunk in its entirety just off the coast of the city before they could make landfall. The seas swallowed every ship to drag the Auslanders to a watery death. Whatever remaining Auslanders were left after that horrible catastrophe left the mainland to head back to their own shores in growing fear of the might of the city of Rune.
