Lord Pierce was actually a woman by the name of Rowena Percival, who was born in Threshold. She was married off to an abusive husband, lord of a small hold. When he mysteriously turned up dead, governance of the hold was turned over to his son by a previous wife and Rowena left Threshold. She traveled around Jaeis, gaining a large entourage with her wits and wiles, eventually settling near Tenebra. One of her lackeys, a Dark Mage, somehow turned her on to the idea of becoming a god. Over the years, her following grew and grew and she made her bid for godhood, taking over the city of Spire but was thwarted by the Band of the Spire in her moment of glory. The resultant clash of magical energies caused the appearance of The Scar, and the Second Destruction of Spire, as well as her own death and those of The Band of the Spire.
