The mage summons a spherical area of complete and utter inky blackness. Creatures within this field of darkness which rely on sight are treated as being Blind, and take −8 to pretty much any combative action. Useful ways around this limitation include Blind-Fighting and Infrared Eyes. The size of the field is dependent on the Intensity.
