Legends tell of a clan that honed the art of prophecy through the use of cards. It was this clan that gave birth to Spellcards; mundane objects that hold great arcane power. This archaic technique is still in practice today, but by few. All Spellcards have a picture or glyph on the front that tells you what spell is stored inside. Card magi or Spellcard Artists who hold a card are made aware of what level of the spell it is.
Spellcards are subject to Spell wards, Mental wards, and the like, and they can also be counterspelled once applied.
Only the following schools of magic can be turned into Spellcards: Status School, Ward School, Conjuring School, Portation School, Manipulation School, Illusion School, and Dark School.
