Narrative Terms
- Session - One meeting of the players and GM to roleplay. A session might be a regular Thursday night occurence which lasts for a couple hours after work, or an all day Saturday affair. Sessions can be as long or short as the players and GM decide.
- Adventure - An undertaking of the players' which follows their characters along a particular storyline with a set beginning and prospective ending. Adventures usually span a number of sessions.
- Campaign - A saga consisting of a number of adventures, and by extension, quite a few sessions.
- Player Character (PC) - refers to the characters that the players create and use in the game. PC's are also referred to as "heroes," "characters," or "the party."
- Game Master (GM) - The narrator/director of the game. The GM is responsible for controlling the characters not controlled by the players (NPCs), acting as judge and referee with regards to rules, and coming up with the story.
- Non-player Character (NPC) - Any character not directly controlled by the players.
