Essence
A spell's essence describes its makeup, purpose, and means of operation. It's the very fabric of the magic that is enacted by the spell. Every spell falls into one of the following essences.

Compulsory
A spell with the compulsory essence forces intelligent creatures into actions against their will.
Conjuring
A spell with the conjuring essence temporarily summons something into being. No magic can create objects permanently, but conjuring spells are as close to creation as a mage will get.
Dynamic
A spell with the dynamic essence transfers or releases energy itself.
Mutative
A spell with the mutative essence transforms a creature or object's physical makeup.
Illusory
A spell with the illusory essence produces false sensory information.
Perceptive
A spell with the perceptive essence alters or enhances a creature's natural senses, or makes otherwise unknown information available.
Transportive
A spell with the transportive essence conveys objects or creatures through space.
Warding
A spell with the warding essence prevents certain effects from happening.
